Ragnar Capital is an independent corporate finance company, authorised and regulated by the Finance Conduct Authority. We specialise in raising capital for high growth companies, both in the public and private arenas.

We have developed strong relationships with a large and diverse group of investors who trust us to introduce them to carefully curated and exciting investment opportunities.

Philip Baillieu
Biography

Philip is the Managing Partner of Ragnar Capital, has over 30 years’ experience in financial services across a diverse range of industries including commodities, asset management and investment banking. Philip was based in Hong Kong for nearly a decade, where he built up an extensive knowledge base of financial sector expertise and contacts that are deployed at Ragnar Capital.

Philip worked at Barings Securities, ING Bank, Macquarie Bank, the Samsung Group and Mizuho Bank before transitioning to his current role. Being passionate about entrepreneurs he is a a successful investor in early stage companies. Philip volunteers as the Chair of Governors for a state-funded secondary school for children aged 11 to 18 and enjoys the outdoors and challenging ski slopes.

Dr Mustapha Omar
Biography

Mustapha is an experienced corporate broker with a global perspective and a successful track record of raising funds for numerous UK and international companies, either at private placement or IPO. He was an early partner and Head of Research at Collins Stewart Tullet, an influential investment banking firm that grew to a value of £1.5bn, and was a co-founder and partner of Mayfair-based corporate finance company, Chrystal Capital.

Prior to this he was a high profile sell side investment analyst in London covering technology, telecoms and engineering sectors. Also floated and served on the main board as the Commercial Director for an AIM listed clean technology group, was also the Commercial Director of an AIM listed a leisure company, and is currently a main board observer at a virtual reality firm. Mustapha has a First Class honours degree in Mechanical Engineering with Mathematics, a PhD in Materials Science and is the author of several publications in scientific journals.

Charlie Blake
Biography

Charlie has over 20 years experience in the finance industry in equity sales and corporate finance. Charlie began his career on the Emerging Market desk at ING Barings which was acquired by Macquarie Bank. He moved to Hong Kong with Macquarie to join the hedge fund sales desk and then to Singapore with Citigroup.

Subsequently, Charlie joined Aviate Global in Singapore as a Managing Director. Aviate was a successful Asia-focused investment bank boutique which was later acquired by Religare Capital. Since returning to the UK and joining Ragnar, Charlie has focused on corporate finance work supporting high growth businesses.

Daniel Smaller
Biography

Dan is a Partner of Ragnar Capital and has been active in Frontier and Emerging Markets since the early 1980’s when he took his first job with Citibank in Bahrain and over 10 years moved to Hong Kong, Zurich, Sydney, Singapore. He remained in Emerging/Frontier Markets at Lehman Brothers, UBS and Deutsche Bank (DB) where he was Head of Equity Sales. 

He enjoyed opening new markets from Pakistan to Peru, Jordan to Morocco and Tunisia to Zimbabwe, often leading the first institutional investor visits. He then moved to Dubai to build and manage the asset management business for DB and then helped build the Middle East’s first independent Asset Management firm, Algebra Capital. He also helped create Pakistan’s leading asset manager and one of the country’s first PE and VC Funds.  

Dan is an active skier, tennis player and enjoys playing Polo especially when he can remain firmly in the saddle. He is from Palo Alto California and holds an MBA from the University of Chicago. 

Rebecca Hume
Biography

Rebecca joined Ragnar Capital Partners LLP in June 2016 as Compliance Officer and Money Laundering Reporting Officer. Rebecca has worked in the Corporate Finance industry for a number of years as a Compliance Officer, Money Launder Reporting Officer, CASS oversight Officer and as a compliance consultant. In addition, Rebecca is a regulatory training specialist to regulated firms on a spectrum of compliance topics, as well as being the author of financial crime policies and procedures, anti-money laundering sections and the bribery and corruption chapters for compliance manuals. Rebecca is a seasoned industry professional who believes in a compliance culture that supports growth through consumer protection and a fair and transparent financial services environment.
